The Stripe Payments Plugin allows admin to create and offer variable products to their customers. These can be variable physical or digital products.
Admin have the ability to add as many variation blocks as they choose, each with a custom title. The variation options for a product are then displayed to the customer in a neat drop down menu.
Each variation created for a product can have it’s own price modifier. For example, you may offer a basic black t-shirt for $10.00. If your customers choose this t-shirt in red, it will add an additional $2.00 to the total price while the white variation will minus $2.00 off the total.
What is a Variable Product?
If you wish to sell an item where there will be a number of sizes, colors or other variations to choose from, you will need to use a plugin that allows for variable products. The Stripe Payments Plugin allows for variations to be added to any product.
Example of a Variable Product
You may wish to sell a basic t-shirt that comes in a number of colors and sizes. To achieve this, you would need to create a variable product.
In the following example, the customer can choose to purchase this t-shirt in one of the following colors: black, white or red.
They will then need to choose which size they would like to purchase: either small medium or large. The small size does not alter the total, although if the customer choose a medium t-shirt they will pay $1.00 more and a large shirt will cost $2.00 extra.
The total price of their t-shirt will depend on which variations they choose. A small shirt is $10.00, a medium shirt is $11.00 and a large shirt is $12.00.
Variations Displayed in a Drop-Down Menu
Your customers will need to choose the variation most suited to them from the drop-down menu. You can attach an additional cost to a variation in suitable cases.
Total Cost With Variations Applied
Once the customer has selected the variations of their product, the total cost will be altered according. The customer can then proceed to checkout as normal using the ‘Buy Now’ button.
